Buildings are the biggest polluters on the planet, responsible for far greater proportion of the carbon dioxide emissions that get pumped into the atmosphere every year than cars, planes or factories. The potential for change in the home front is obvious. Stewardship for our environment has always been the focus of Rusafova Markulis since the beginning of our architectural practice. We believe in comprehensive design solutions that recognize and respond to concerns about global warming, limited resources and environmental degradation. It is our goal to design buildings that are compact, efficient, age beautifully and last a long time. We also try to incorporate sustainable technologies like green roofs, natural ventilation, solar power, water collection, use of recycled materials, passive solar design, gray water utilization, and rain water collection, to produce buildings that are not only aesthetically pleasing but responsible.
